Insect Label Maker Prototype

(Download Link Below)

This Microsoft Word Macro can create insect collection labels that can be run off on a laser printer. Instructions are included on the document itself, and all you have to do is click on the Create New Labels button in the Word Toolbar to start the program.

The Current Feature Set includes:

  1. You can have different sites in the same batch, and can define how many of a particular label you want - you can run multiple sheets in a single batch.
  2. A preview feature is available so that you can see how your label will print out before you print.
  3. You have two layouts to choose from: 5/8" wide collection labels or 3/4" x 3/4" labels for microscope slides.
  4. You can export your label data so you can use it in a spreadsheet or database.
  5. You can add a degree symbol (°) to your GPS Coordinates.

This program was created on Microsoft Word 2000, and is now compatible with MS Word 2001 for Macintosh.

I cannot guarantee compatibility with older versions of Microsoft Word (sorry!), but for newer versions of Word, I definitely want to know if there are issues.

Future Plans (Really, I did not abandon this!)

This is a work in progress, which will resume shortly. I still plan to add new functionality (like creating your own formats!) to this program later in the year, and better error handling (for you mac users out there...when I can scrounge up a decent Mac.)

Please feel free to use the software at no cost. Please do not resell it, disassemble and/or modify it.

I'd be happy to take your suggestions as to how I could make it better.
